Greg Shaw

Graduate Student

Greg Shaw is a graduate student pursuing an MS degree in Biomedical Engineering. Originally from Lancaster, OH, Greg received his undergraduate degree (BS) from the Russ College of Engineering’s Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2023. He developed a keen interest in exercise as a high school student when he was able to personally transform his health by losing weight and dramatically improve his physical capacity and quality of life. His passion for exercise led him to work part time as a personal trainer and F45 Coach during his undergraduate studies. It was also led him to  his choice of expanding his formal training to biomedical engineering. He is currently continuing to take relevant engineering coursework while also taking courses in physiology , anatomy, and neuroscience. He also holds a research assistantship in the Clark Lab where he is leading two projects that will serve aa the foundation for his thesis work. The first experiment will investigate the relative contribution of neural mechanisms in age-related hand grip weakness, which is a robust biomarker of aging that the scientific and medical communities poorly understand the physiologic underpinnings of. The second experiment is leveraging a novel eye tracking paradigm to examine the functional relevance of  age-related changes in the dopaminergic reward system on indices of mobility.
