New paper on cellular carbon stress in cartilage and OA

Congratulations to the lab for publishing a paper in the journal Osteoarthritis and Cartilage! In this study, we investigate if ‘carbon stress’, a newly found mechanism that links obesity and dysregulated metabolism, also occurs in cartilage and contributes to obesity associated OA development. We found that cartilage upregulates multiple types of post-translational modifications that linked with 'carbon stress' during obesity. Our ongoing work is now investigating how those PTMs participate in regulating chondrocyte cellular metabolism and OA development during obesity.
