HoWon Kim
At the 2023 Neural Control of Movement conference, HoWon Kim presented fMRI data investigating the neural correlates of supine knee sagittal and frontal plane ROM in healthy adolescent female athletes during a bilateral leg press task. This study provides insights into the effects of subtle movement alterations on brain activity during the supine bilateral leg press task.
HoWon found a positive correlation between the right lateral occipital cortex and knee sagittal range of motion during the supine bilateral leg press task in adolescent female athletes. These findings may suggest distinct cortical representation for sagittal plane knee motor control in adolescent female athletes.
Amber Schnittjer
Amber presented a poster presentation entitled "Quadriceps Force Control Error is Correlated with Lesser Bilateral Sensorimotor Cerebellar Activation after Knee Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction". The main takeaway is that higher force control error during an isometric knee extension task was associated with lesser activation of bilateral sensorimotor cerebellar regions, potentially indicating a weakened ability to recalibrate force control early following ACLR.
