Ohio University's Research Division awarded Dr. Grant Weinandy a $15,000 Baker/OURC internal grant for our project "Gambling in Rural Areas: A Focus on Appalachian Communities." The full announcement can be found here.

This research aims to holistically describe and understand the risk factors, harms, and barriers to support services for problem gambling that rural gamblers experience. The project will use qualitative and quantitative methods to inform future prevention and intervention efforts and clarify the needs of rural Appalachian communities. Importantly, this work will also work with rural community members, as partners, to inform the research questions and interpretations of our results. In this way, the TEA Lab aims to ensure that this work directly benefits and reflects the experience of our local rural, Appalachian community. More information about this project and the community partnerships is forthcoming.
